NBC3 Weather Plus Meteorologist Mike Brookins can be seen on Action News 3 weekend evenings as well as the CW6 News at 10 Saturdays through Wednesdays.

A native of Rochester, Brookins received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology from the State University of New York at Brockport. While in college he was involved in Lake Effect Snow research studies and finds forecasting the phenomenon challenging yet exciting. Before becoming part of the NBC 3 Weather Plus Team, Mike worked as a meteorologist at WTAE-TV Pittsburgh, WROC Rochester and WOKR in Rochester . He holds an American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for Television Broadcasting.

It is hard to believe winter is over and time is running out for to make your last tracks in the snow.

Ski season goes on despite a really bad week. I will be the first to say that the 10 day period in early to mid-March wasn’t nice for what has been an outstanding winter.

Backyards are green but the slopes are still white   

Sure, the trail counts are going down and ski surfaces may not be packed powder any longer, but some of my favorite skiing is still to come.
