SYRACUSE -- Thursday is the first day Onondaga County residents can sign their children up to participate in H1N1 "swine flu" vaccine clinics at their local schools.
The registration process is taking place online on the websites of individual Onondaga County public school districts, but the Onondaga County Health Department says the demand for appointments in the county is so great that it is slowing the online registration process down to a crawl.
The Health Department is asking for patience from those trying to register their child, and tells Action News that there will be appointments for all children who want them. They say that no one will be turned away. They are also asking parents not to call their school district, but to register online at their child's school district's website.
The clinics will run from November 16 through December 11.
If you have questions about the registration process, or do not have access to a computer to register online, you can call the county's flu hotline at 315-435-5752.
The Catholic Diocese of Syracuse tells Action News that it will hold an H1N1 flu shot clinic on Monday, November 30 at Bishop Grimes High School. This clinic will accommodate students from all of the Diocese's Catholic elementary schools and high schools in Onondaga County.
