In 1931, Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, founded Brookgreen Gardens, a non-profit 501(c) (3) garden museum, to preserve the native flora and fauna and display objects of art within that natural setting.
Today, Brookgreen Gardens is a National Historic Landmark with the most significant collection of figurative sculpture, in an outdoor setting, by American artists in the world, and has the only zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums on the coast of the Carolinas.
2008 Admission Prices:
- Members are FREE.
- Children 5 and under are FREE when accompanied by an adult.
- Adults 13-64: $12
- Seniors 65 and over: $10
- Children 6-12: $5
- Discount prices for groups of 15 or more
Hours
The Gardens are open year-round from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week from January through November.
In December, the gardens are open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.except during the holiday lights festival, Nights of a Thousand Candles on December 5-6; 12-13; 18-20 when the hours are 3 p.m to 10 p.m.
The Gardens are closed on Christmas Day.
Admissions are sold until 30 minutes prior to closing.

Brookgreen Gardens is located on U.S. Highway 17 South between Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island, South Carolina, directly across from Huntington Beach State Park.
