Business Type: At USC The Business College, your experience begins with high academic standards in an encouraging atmosphere. Small class sizes, individualized assistance, and student-centered faculty provide you with the attention you deserve.
The Utica School of Commerce was founded by Thomas J. Risinger in 1896 in response to an early demand for specialized training in commerce and finance.
Answer Only students who have graduated from high school or successfully completed a GED can be admitted to USC. For those who may have experienced academic difficulties in the past, we offer special courses to assist your transition to college. We meet with each student individually to plan a schedule of classes that will result in the optimal chance for success! Additionally, each campus has a learning center and tutoring available for all students. Our students have the full commitment of our staff and faculty to ensure the desired outcome. Question What kind of financial aid will I get? Answer There are a variety of state and federal programs that include grants (money that does not have to be paid back) and loans (money that the student must repay.) Additionally, USC has a number of awards and scholarship programs -“gifts” to the student to assist with tuition, books, and living expenses. Because every situation is unique, we direct each student to meet with our Financial Aid Director to ensure that all the questions are answered and the financial aid package is clearly explained. Our goal is to meet your individual financial need so the college experience can be affordable. Answer Applying is easy. Complete an application and signature page online, by mail, or in person at any campus. We will request your transcripts and/or diploma (with your permission) as well as the health documentation that is required for all students who attend college. Because USC has an open enrollment policy (which means applications are reviewed continually), we can give you a decision quickly. Question What are the classes like? Answer Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday at all three campuses. The Canastota campus also holds classes on Saturday morning. Daytime classes begin at 8 a.m. and conclude by 4 p.m. Evening classes usually begin at 6 p.m. Our classes are also available online for the student who needs even more flexibility. Three full semesters per year are available: fall, spring, and summer. A student can take any combination of classes at any location to complete a program. Question What kind of job placement services do you offer? Answer At USC, your placement is our business! Each campus features a lifetime placement service committed to helping you develop your career path. Also, all of our graduates participate in Employment Seminar, a dynamic course offering that includes resume production, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies. Question Do the credits transfer to four-year schools? Answer Many four-year institutions welcome our students. USC and SUNY Institute of Technology boast a Joint Admission Program for USC students who know they want to continue their education upon graduation from USC. Credit transfer depends on the course, grade, and individual college program. We can guide you through the process to maximize your transfer options.
