The Clear Edge Filtration plant in Skaneateles Falls has begun laying off its 79 employees as part of a plant closure that was first announced last spring.

In a notice to New York State about the plant closing, the company announced layoffs began this week and will continue through the end of the year or whenever the plant is shut down. The work is being transferred to a plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Another 82 jobs at the company's plant in Moravia are also on the line as operations move to the midwest. Clear Edge describes itself as a technical leader in filtration, process and screen print solutions.

Last year the company said incentives from officials in Oklahoma made it worthwhile to move business there. The company's filtration products are used in mining and wastewater treatment.

The company's corporate office is in Oklahoma.  It has plants and offices in cities around the world.
