TOWN OF GREIG -- A North Country Town Clerk and Tax Collector is accused of misappropriating funds.

65-year-old Karin Fayle is charged with official misconduct, a misdemeanor.

Fayle is the Town of Greig Town Clerk and Tax Collector.

State Police say a check for $17,364 was diverted from the Black River Watershed Project to cover a known shortage in the Town Property Tax account.

Fayle was issued an appearance ticket and released. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Greig Court at a later date.
