The Syracuse Orange football team got just what they needed on Friday night, their first win over a Football Subdivision team since last October, but more importantly a win. While there wasn't all that much to talk about on offense, the Orange put together their first solid game of the season, using solid defense to nail down a 14-13 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers.

All of SU's scoring came in the first quarter, on an Adonis Ameen-Moore 1-yard run and a Dyshawn Davis returned fumble for 52 yards.

SU's strong defense was led by Brandon Sharpe's career-high seven tackles including six for a loss and four sacks.

Syracuse also snapped a seven-game losing streak against Pittsburgh, who had won two straight games heading into the Carrier Dome. Both the Orange and Panthers will join the Atlantic Coast Conference next season.
