SYRACUSE -- An estimated 24,000 people filled Syracuse University's Carrier Dome on Tuesday night for the One World Concert, billed as a historic celebration of peace, music, and common ground. It was part of Syracuse University's 'Common Ground for Peace' symposium.
The event's star-studded lineup included Dave Matthews, Nelly Furtado, Natasha Bedingfield, David Crosby, Cindy Lauper, Counting Crows, and Roberta Flack.
The Dalai Lama kicked off the event, which was emceed by Whoopi Goldberg. Tickets to tonight's concert ranged from $35-$55.
Before Tuesday night's show, singer Natasha Bedingfield spoke about the power of music. "In the music, I feel like we kind of open a window to inspiration when music is playing," Bedingfield said.
The One World Concert culminated a two-day event centered around the promotion of world peace. On Monday, the Dalai Lama spoke at the Goldstein Auditorium at Syracuse University's Schine Student Center.
