SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man was arrested for allegedly robbing the Byrne Dairy at 1429 Butternut Street in Syracuse on Tuesday night, according to the Syracuse Police Department.

A store employee says that a man came into the store, with his hand under his jacket as if he had a gun, and demanded money from the register.  After taking the cash, he left the store.

Officer Andrew Quinn was checking the area for the suspect and stopped at a nearby boarding house.  He saw a man, who was later identified as Christopher Staats, 31, that matched the description of the subject.  Staats let officers into his apartment to talk to him.

As the officers were speaking with Staats, they noticed the cash from the robbery lying on his bed.

Staats was then positively identified by the store employee and was arrested.  The cash from the robbery was recovered.

Staats is scheduled to be arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Wednesday.
