NEW HARTFORD -- New Hartford Police charged a 57 year old Rochester man for trying to steal $2,775 of men’s suits from Macy’s in Sangertown Square.

Michael Gissendanner tried to steal 6 men’s suits from the display racks. Gissendanner tried to hide the suits in a large plastic bag and attempted to leave the store without paying for them, according to police.

Macy’s security officers stopped him before he could leave and detained him until the New Hartford police arrived.  Police said this was not Gissendenner’s only theft.  They say he was wanted for failing to pay a fine stemming from a previous larceny charge.
