TOWN OF VERONA -- A Canastota man is dead after his vehicle drove off the road and hit several trees before rolling over on Route 31 in the Town of Verona at 10:25 am on Friday, March 15, according to State Police.

Troopers say 65-year-old Vincent L. Spadafora Jr. was driving his 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander when it went off the side of the road, hitting a road marker and the trees, then rolling over and coming to rest back on its tires.

Durhamville Fire Department EMS and Vineall Ambulance crews found Spadafora unresponsive in his vehicle, so life-saving measures were started.

Spadafora was taken to the Oneida Healthcare Center where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Vincent Spadafora Jr. was an Assistant Professor of radio broadcasting at Onondaga Community College. He also taught for forty years as an Electronic Media Communications professor at the school. Spadafora was a military veteran, serving as a U.S. Army sergeant from 1967 to 1970, with two tours of duty in South Vietnam.
