CORTLAND -- Cortland Firefighters responded to a house fire at 16 Harrington Avenue at about 8:15 pm December 22. There was also a report that a person had gone back into the house and would not leave.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw flames coming out of the second story window of the single family house.

Fire crews were able to get the fire under control within ten minutes.

The person who went back in the house was found by Cortland City Police on the back porch of the house.

Another person was taken to the hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation.
