*Update*---The boil water advisory has been lifted for Town of Fleming residents
FLEMING -- *Update*--The Cayuga County Health Department has lifted the boil water advisory for the Town of Fleming.
The Cayuga County Health Department says the boil-water advisory for the Town of Fleming is still in effect. The water main that was broken has been repaired, but health officials are waiting for samples of the freshly flushed lines to be returned. Until then, residents should still boil all water for at least one minute that they plan to use for cooking or drinking. Customers who get their water from the Town of Springport and live on Ridge, Bluefield, Large, Sevior or Dougall Roads do not need to boil water.
The Cayuga County Health Department has issued a Boil Water Order for the Town of Fleming due to a watermain break that possibly allowed contaminated water into the distribution system.
Any neighbors who receive water from the Town of Springport, or live on Ridge, Bluefield, Large, Sevior or Dougall roads are not impacted.
Any water for drinking or cooking purposes should be boiled before use. The Health Department says water should be boiled for one minute. Let it cool before you use it or use bottled water.
The Health Department estimates that the Boil Water Order will remain in effect for a few days. It will notify the public once the problem has been resolved and water samples confirm the water in the distribution system isn't contaminated.
