Beezie Madden has been campaigning three horses for the bid
Beezie Madden showing off some of her previous Olympic medals. She's hoping for a bid to her third games
For Cazenovia's Beezie Madden, there's nothing left to do but wait for the official announcement on who will represent the United States at the horse jumping competition in the London Olympics.
For the past several months, a selection committee has been watching invited competitors, and their horses, at big shows. The process ended last night at Spruce Meadows, in Canada, where Madden is campaigning her three prospects.
Coral Reef Via Volo, the most experienced, finished second on Thursday and 13th Saturday night. Simon (who won an observation event last month in Kentucky) finished 10th on Thursday but 5th on Saturday, The third horse, Cortes C, competed last week and at previous shows. Madden won medals, including golds, in the past two Olympics, in Athens and China, on her superstar horse Authentic, now retired. She'd like a third chance, and is waiting for the announcement today.
