SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse City School District is considering expanding enrollment at the Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School.
The charter school wants to increase its enrollment "cap" from 696 to 975 students in grades K-12.
According to the school's website the SASCS "offers area students the best aspects of public and private education. As part of a public community charter school, SASCS's tuition-free program offers the small classes and college preparatory programs of a private academy to students who would otherwise be financially constrained to attend public school. Students are given the opportunity to learn and grow into productive, conscientious citizens with a keen sense of social awareness and community responsibility."
The school is located on Park Avenue in Syracuse.
The district will hold a hearing on Thursday, February 14th, from 4:30pm - 5:30pm at its headquarters on 725 Harrison Street to talk about the school's request. The public is encouraged to attend and give their comments.
