TULLY -- Investigators now know what caused a massive fire that destroyed the Burger King in Tully last month.
Firefighters say it was an accident, caused by a mechanical fire in the ventilation system above the restrooms.
The fire broke out around 8 p.m. on February 6. Crews arrived to find the building engulfed in flames. The fire could be seen for miles away.
Investigators say natural gas fed the fire, making it difficult for crews to battle it. Part of the roof collapsed in the heavy flames, forcing firefighters to fight the fire from outside the building.
Bruce Graham, one of the owners of the site, told CNYCentral the day after the fire he was hopeful they would rebuild after 23 years in business.
