Unions, and the United Way in the Syracuse area are organizing a day of service for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

The clothing and food drive will happen Monday morning, January 21st, with deliveries to area shelters and help agencies in the afternoon.   Helen Hudson, United Way liaison for the AFL-CIO, says it's the 13th year the Greater Syracuse Labor Council has organized the community effort, but volunteers come from all parts of the community, and more are needed.

This year, she says donations of winter coats and bedding are especially needed, along with food to stock pantries. Volunteers can help receive and sort dropoffs, and drivers are also needed to make deliveries.

Contributions can be brought to the Teamsters at 566 Spencer Street from 8am to noon on Monday, January 21.
