They served sushi, wine and cheese to celebrate the best our community has to offer. The Syracuse New Times awarded Best of Syracuse awards like Best Live Music Venue (Shifty's), Best Draft Beer Selection (Blue Tusk) and Best Local Sports Team (Syracuse Orange basketball).  I was mingling among the winners to have my picture taken with my acrylic plaque in hand honoring Best Blog.

I appreciate being included in the media section that includes other winners like Ted and Amy on 93Q (Best Local Radio Show), Rod Wood of Channel 9 (Most Sincere Newscaster) and Doppler the Weather Cat (Best Weather Forecasting Gimmick). Although I am rethinking my hair style and training program in an attempt to wrench away the most prestigious media honor of Best TV News Hottie. That went to former NBC 3 weather guy Chris Brandolino who pulled a two year shift in Australia just for a chance to work at Channel 9 and win this award.

Now that I have the Best Blog title under my belt I am realigning my target for next year. I'm scouring the category listings for my next coup.  I could qualify for Best Beautification Effort if I just sharpen my lawn mowing blade. I might sneak a win in Best Pizza and Wings if it was more about eating than cooking. I might have a shot at Best Vocalist if I just quit my anchoring gig and started a band.

I did meet one fellow winner tonight who made an impression. He was sharply dressed gentleman. As he approached he glanced at my Best Blog plaque to see what I had won. I said hello and asked about his category. He was the owner of Lookers. He won Best Adult Club. Maybe I should just stick to Best Blog and be happy.
