Shamrock's Celebration 2012 on March 24th
Shamrock. He would have been 19 on his next birthday in 2010.
The phone rings several times a day. The e-mails come asking for help. There's an English Mastif with bone cancer. There's a cat with an intestinal blockage. There's Pomerian having a difficult labor. More than two years after the conception of the Shamrock Animal Fund it has become a go to source for information, advocacy and assistance with funding for pet owners in the greater Central New York area and beyond.
Jamie does the heavy lifting. She is the social worker who listens to the stories of people in the middle of a pet crisis. She works to get them some help and also encourages them to help themselves. Every day we work on the business of the fund. There are letters to write, a website and a Facebook page to update. There are forms to file, books to balance and records to keep. There is marketing, public relations, coordinationg of Healthy Pet Clinics. And, then there is our fundraising event: Shamrock's Celebration.
While helping to pay for veterinary care for animals in needs we are also gathering silent and live auction items. Encouraging donors and supporters to join us for the March 24th event. We are tracking contributors, producing television spots and doing interviews to generate more awareness of the fund.
It is the business of creating a viable not-for-profit. Our pay is a simple thank you from a pet owner who needed a hand. It comes from learning puppies were safely delivered and are being adopted. It arrives with news that a tumor has been removed or a crisis has been averted to a family pet can return to being part of the family. Joins us in March to celebrate the work of the past and support the work that will come in the future. Thank you.
