School Board President Donald Cook confirmed those details to CNY Central tonight, saying the district is trying to take a proactive approach to its $4.5 million budget deficit for next school year. Cook said a letter from Superintendent Richard Johns went out earlier in the week, asking all staff members to consider taking the pay freeze. He said it would save the district close to $1.5 million, which is equivalent to roughly 30 jobs. It comes a year after the district was forced to slash 130 jobs.
