As East Coast neighbors continue to dry out and clean up in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, Central New York continues to help, lending unique talents to recovery efforts. The staff and volunteers at Laci's Tapas Bar are contributing their cooking talents to the Queens area, while the Park Central Presbyterian Church is putting together hygiene kits.

Area churches are coming together to help those in need get ready for school. The Chittenango Area Association of Churches is holding a giveaway at the Presbyterian Church that runs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (10am to 4pm) and Saturday (10am to 2pm).

Park Central Presbyterian Church is collecting health kits to ship to areas hit by tornadoes. The kits include hand towels, washcloths, combs, nail clippers, soap, toothbrushes, and band-aids. Organizers say although monetary donations are welcomed, giving items for the kits goes a long way.
