SWEDEN -- It’s not just American car companies in trouble in this economy.

A new report says Swedish automakers, Volvo and Saab, were close to filing for bankruptcy last year.

Sweden's government is desperately trying to keep both companies within their own borders and they paid a $610 million loan to Saab to make sure they were purchased by a Swedish company.
