CORNELL (AP) -- Cornell University has chosen names to two new grape varieties it developed.

The school announced at a viticulture conference this week in Rochester that two new grapes developed Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences are being called Arandell and Aromella. The names were selected from more than 1,000 names submitted online.

Cornell researchers say grape naming can be important since there are more than 7,000 existing varieties on the market. They say new grapes can face an uphill battle.
