ONEIDA -- A popular local newspaper is adding a six-section spread on Sundays, but it's scaling back its weekly printing schedule.
Starting February 3, the Oneida Daily Dispatch, which serves more than 17,000 readers across Central New York, will release a printed edition three days of the week - Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Editors at the paper say the weekly subscription price will remain the same, and will also include access to the Dispatch's electronic edition.
The staff at the Oneida Daily Dispatch say they will continue to put the spotlight on local news. It says content will not be lost. Instead, printed editions will feature more pages. Journalists will continue to update the website, Twitter and Facebook accounts, posting stories as news unfolds.
The paper says there will be no jobs lost associated with the publishing change. It has served the Madison County area for 163 years.
The Post-Standard in Syracuse announced a similar scale-back last fall, but it laid off 112 people in the process. Some of them were re-hired when the Syracuse Media Group was formed.
Also starting February 3, The Post-Standard will shift to a three-day print schedule. It will be also delivered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
