SYRACUSE -- Onondaga County Health Department Deputy Commissioner Linda Carmen has told Action News that one of the ten people diagnosed with Legionniares' Disease has died. The health department says they do not know if the death was caused by the legionella bacteria or if it was due to another cause. The health department says it would not comment any further.

Community General Hospital, where the legionella bacteria was discovered, says it will not comment because of health privacy laws. The health department has confirmed that the deceased patient was located at Community General, but it is unknown whether the disease was contracted there.

Also, Action News has learned that an eleventh person has been diagnosed with Legionnaires' Disease. That total includes the person who passed away.
