ONONDAGA COUNTY --
We started watching Jim Walsh in the 70s, on the Syracuse Common Council:  He became Council President before challenging for Onondaga County Executive, losing the Republican primary to Nick Pirro--a defeat Walsh now calls a blessing, because he next ran for Congress, and won against Rosemary Pooler to begin a 20 year's career on Capitol Hill.
He was on the House Appropriations Committee and brought over 1-billion dollars in funding to the Syracuse Area, including moneys for neighborhood revitalization in Syracuse.
He announced in January that he was leaving, because, at age 60 'it was time.'
