SYRACUSE -- Updated 8:40pm:
Syracuse Police say four people have been taken out of a home on West Matson Avenue this evening. Officers tell Action News a string of events started at around 4:20 this afternoon. Two officers saw a man running down the street with a hatchet. When they stopped him to question him, he said his friend had been shot. At the same time, there was a report of several shots fired on West Matson Avenue.
Police say when officers arrived at West Matson Avenue, a person was lying in the road with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers believe several people then went into a house. Police surrounded the home and eventually got four people out of an upstairs apartment. Police say SWAT teams went into the home and there was no one else inside. Investigators are now questioning the four people to find out if they witnessed the shooting or have any connection to it.

Syracuse Police are still on the scene at West Matson Avenue. Officers have been trying to communicate with people inside the house, but we don't know if there has been any response. Our crew on the scene says the SWAT team has been seen on the street.

Syracuse Police say a suspect is barricaded inside a house. Crews are on the scene near the intersection of West Matson Avenue and Midland Avenue. Onondaga County 911 dispatchers tell Action News this is related to a shooting in the area that happened a little after 4:00pm.
