GEDDES -- The New York State Fair has added several more acts to its roster of concerts taking place on the Chevy Court Stage. Admission to the concerts is free with your paid admission to the fair. Here's the release from the fair:
Nickelodeon television star and popular rock musician and songwriter Drake Bell will be one of three performers aimed at children and teens scheduled to play free afternoon concerts at the Fair's Chevy Court this summer.
Drew Seeley, an accomplished young actor, singer and songwriter, and Jordan Pruitt, a teenage pop singer who has toured the Jonas Brothers and the Cheetah Girls, will also perform.
Bell, who starred in the Nickelodeon network hits "Drake & Josh" and "The Amanda Show," will bring his crowd-pleasing show to Chevy Court at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, during the final day of the 2009 New York State Fair.
Seeley, who toured with the concert version of "High School Musical" and starred opposite Selena Gomez in last year's tween-oriented movie "Another Cinderella Story," will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5.
Pruitt, an 18-year-old performer who's had four singles hit Billboard Magazine's pop charts, will take the stage at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29.
"The Great New York State Fair is a family attraction that should provide entertainment for people of all ages. These talented performers put on shows that young people can enjoy with their parents and grandparents," State Fair Director Dan O'Hara said. "It's one of the things we wanted to accomplish with our new Chevy Court format. By providing more national acts, we can provide a greater variety of entertainment."
The concerts will be part of an expanded format at the Fair's Chevy Court venue, where two different national acts will be featured each day, doubling the number of entertainers available there from 12 to 24.
All Chevy Court shows are available free with the price of admission.
Drake Bell, 22, began his entertainment career as a child actor with parts on hit television shows like "Home Improvement" and "Seinfeld." He later became a favorite Nickelodeon comic actor through his starring roles in "The Amanda Show" and "Drake & Josh." Bell wrote and performed the theme song for the latter show and is scheduled to release his third album around the time of the Fair. Familiar songs include "Makes Me Happy," Found A Way," "I Know," and "Superhero Song," the theme from "Superhero Movie."
Bell received Kids' Choice awards for best actor in 2006 and 2008. Last year, Bell starred in both the spoof film "Superhero Movie," and the comedy movie "College."
Drew Seeley, 27, is a Toronto native who began in professional musical theater at the age of 11. He has guest starred in television shows such as "One Tree Hill," "Dawson's Creek" and the daytime drama "Guiding Light," and written and performed music for Disney's "High School Musical" soundtrack. He played 60,000-seat arenas as part of the "High School Musical" touring cast and had the starring role of a pop star in the 2008 movie "Another Cinderella Story." He has been touring and performing his original music.
Jordan Pruitt, 18, co-wrote most of the songs on her 2007 debut album, which did well on the Billboard charts. Her cover of the Sister Sledge hit "We Are Family" was featured in the Disney film "Air Buddies." Other hit songs include "One Love," "Jump to the Rhythm," "Outside Looking In," and "My Shoes."
