We answer your questions about our weather cat

Meteorologist Wayne Mahar remembers well, when Doppler became part of our lives:  he was doing 11pm weather when, just beyond the WeatherDeck lights, he saw a cat coming toward him.  That Doppler made himself right at home on our new WeatherDeck, figuring that lights meant people, which meant food.  We knew he belonged to someone in the neighborhood, because of his collar, but never found out who, before he was hit by a car on busy James Street.

Because so many people liked the idea of a weather cat, Wayne went to an animal shelter and found another orange tabby--who got along with him, but was scared to death of being on TV.  So, we figured he'd be happier elsewhere, and a nursing home in Watertown is his home (we get Christmas cards!)...Wayne says the cat runs the place.
So, take 3: the SPCA had a young orange tabby, who's basically grown up here at 1030 James. This is the cat we had the naming contest for:  11 thousand entries!  Wayne says you couldn't have gotten more interest by burning money on the Weather Deck.

Doppler has been here ever since, in our lobby as the official greeter, and on the Weather Deck in fair weather....and, he's started making 'personal' appearances outside the station, again.
