KILLAWOG, BROOME COUNTY -- It's been 16 months since the last time Terry Curtis saw his daughter, Bethanie Doughtery and he's still holding out hope that some day, he'll see her again. Terry says, "I haven't given up. I'll never give up. Never. I still have some hope that we can find her safe."
As Terry and his family prepare to celebrate Bethanie's birthday without her on Monday, Terry says his only wish is to hear her voice. Terry says, "I'd fall apart. I would be a mess, but I'd be happy."
Family members know she disappeared by her home in Killawog. Between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, neighbors heard screams in the woods that night, but no evidence was found. Broome County investigators have exhausted almost every angle looking for answers. Bethanie's family have tried everything from signs to cold case cards. Terry says, "It's supposed to be in the next run of cards. Its helped in some cases. Anything is worth a try."
Terry says all he can do now is wait, unless someone comes forward with information. Terry says, "I think anybody can pretty much deal with just about anything if you know what you're dealing with. We just don't know what we are dealing with. We don't know what's happened, why or where?"
Terry says the family has always offered a reward for any information and are still offering one. If you have any information, you can contact the Broome County Sheriff's Department at 607-778-1911.
