Storms kill 9 in eastern US, cause wide power outages as temperatures climb to triple digits

WASHINGTON (AP) - Violent storms are being blamed for the deaths of at least nine people and widespread power outages. Many in the eastern U.S. are facing triple-digit temperatures without electricity - and without air conditioning.
