Happy New Year skiers and boarders! Here is hoping for another great year on the slopes. Looking back at 2008, while the economy may have gone in the tank, there were still many things that were good. Personally my third and final daughter Leah was born. Maybe you’ll catch me training my girls ski team at a mountain. Skiing is actually a nice way to get away from anything that may be bringing you down. Make 2009 a snow filled one while having fun on your skis. Winter break continues this weekend for students; before you know it ski clubs will be making their weekly runs.

There is still time to get in on a super deal from our website CNYcentral.com.  Look for the Half Off CNY Skiing Package for a lift ticket card that will give you a day at each of seven local resorts. Valued at over 240 dollars, you can snag one for only 100 bucks. Consider it a late Christmas present to yourself.

Checking local ski area events this week… Bristol will kick off their weekly Ladies Brigade this coming Wednesday for those over 19 years of age. Lots of fun stuff to do both on the mountain and in the lodge afterwards. Labrador starts a Tuesday Night Race League on January 6th. Then every Wednesday they will have Masters N Motion from 10am until noon. Coming up this Sunday at Woods Valley is the BBQ King with an outdoor smoked BBQ. Incentive to get down the slopes faster when you smell that cooking.

I was cookin’ down the slopes this past week for my first time of the season. The snow was widespread and fast. It was a nice tune up for hopefully much more skiing this winter. Drop us a comment below and let me know how you found any local resorts to be skiing. Have a digital picture of it? Email it to me at mbrookins@CNYcentral.com and I may use it in next week’s WSTM NBC-3 ski report. Happy trails!
