The weekly WSTM Ski Report is getting HUGE starting this week! You’ll notice two ski areas have been added to it. Welcome number one goes out to Brantling Ski and Snowboard Center in Sodus, Wayne County. Check out their Saturday night family fun night from 5-10pm this weekend. $80 is the price for the entire immediate family to ski; mom, pop, and all the kids. Coming up this Sunday is a Bavarian ski day at Brantling. Welcome number two goes to McCauley Mountain in the Old Forge area. McCauley is celebrating their 50th anniversary this winter.

Here is a chance to get some runs in and help others at the same time. Talk about killing two birds with one stone. ARISE & Ski is looking for volunteers to help assist people with disabilities learn how to ski. The prefect person would be able to ski and communicate well like me, preferably with past ski instructor experience or have worked with people with disabilities. There are also openings for those with not as much skiing skills. The program takes place at Toggenburg every weekend through February 15th. A nice perk other than feeling good about helping out, all volunteers get free lift tickets and rentals for the day. If you are interested visit ARISE or contact ski@ariseinc.org

This week at a ski area near you…Cub scouts will be competing in the cardboard box derby on Saturday at Snow Ridge. That should be fun to watch. Grab a helmet at head to Toggenburg this Saturday. They are holding a big air competition. Back in the day I was all about soaring through the sky, but as I get older my skis are mostly stuck to the ground. And Woods Valley has a ski and snowboard event to cure diabetes this Sunday. Registration is at 9am with the event starting at 10am.

Skiing and boarding in Central New York just got 50% less expensive. You may remember the Half Off CNY Skiing Package that I mentioned earlier this winter. Well the price has just got hotter with a price drop from $100 down to only $50. The card, worth over $240, will get you a single lift ticket at each of seven local ski and snowboard areas for use this winter. With the awesome conditions currently and a couple more months of the season left, this is a great deal. Give it a look!

Let me know how your recent trip to a local ski area has gone. Just post a comment right below this Blog about your trip so other readers can hear about it. Better yet, take a digital picture and shoot it my way via email at mbrookins@CNYcentral.com.  I might show it on the WSTM NBC-3 Television ski report next week!

Happy trails…
