FULTON -- A Fulton teacher accused of taking inappropriate photos pleaded guilty in court Monday morning.
Nathan Wienk pleaded guilty to two counts of harassment in Fulton City Court. He was sentenced to 150 hours of community service, preferably in an education-related setting, and a one year conditional discharge.
Wienk was arrested back in May on charges of unlawful surveillance. He was accused of attempting to take photos up the skirt of a female co-worker at two school meetings in March. Wienk had previously denied these charges before his guilty plea on Monday. The district suspended Wienk with pay after he was arrested.
According to the terms of the plea deal, Weink will not have a criminal record. The charges against him will be dismissed after he completes his community service.
At the time of his arrest, Wienk was an art teacher at the Fulton Junior High School. The Fulton School District tells Action News that Wienk remains on paid administrative leave, while the district wraps up its own internal investigation. They say that Weink has been reassigned and is performing administrative tasks for the district which do not involve interaction with students or other teachers.
The district says its internal probe was on hold while the criminal case proceeded, now that it is over they hope to finish up their own investigation.
