TOWN OF CAMDEN -- A West Leyden man is in the Oneida County Jail with no bail after a burglary and assault in the Town of Camden early this morning. According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, 27-year old Dennis J. Williamson entered a home on Howd Road in the Town of Camden at about 1 this morning.
Investigators say Williamson attacked a female who was sleeping on the couch. Deputies say Williams punched, kicked and choked the victim to the point of blacking out. The victim’s two children, ages one and six, witnessed the attack.
A neighbor who heard the commotion called 911 and pounded on the door. That is when Williamson fled the scene. He was located at the FasTrac convenience store in Camden and taken into custody.
Williamson is charged with burglary in the first degree, a class B Felony. Investigators say Williamson and the victim had a past relationship. The victim was taken to Rome City Hospital where she was treated and released.
Williamson was arraigned in the Town of Floyd Court and is being held in the Oneida County Jail with no bail.
