A few state campgrounds remain open this weekend

ALBANY (AP) -- Many of the state's 52 campgrounds in the Adirondacks and Catskills closed on Labor Day, but 31 remain open for fall camping.

This is the last weekend for most of those.

In the Adirondacks, the open campgrounds include Moffitt Beach, Northampton, Sacandaga, Eighth Lake, Indian Lake Islands, Lake Durant, Lewey Lake, Lake George Battleground, Rogers Rock, Lake Eaton, Meacham Lake, Paradox Lake and Nick's Lake.

In the Catskills, open campgrounds include Mongaup Pond, Woodland Valley, Devil's Tombstone, and Little Pond.

Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks is open until Oct. 17, and North-South Lake and Fish Creek Ponds are open until Oct. 24.
