FORT DRUM -- The afternoon shooting at Fort Hood, Texas has soldiers and staff concerned at Fort Drum just north of Watertown, but it has not changed any security procedures on the North Country post. Late this afternoon 10th Mountain Division spokesperson Julie Cupernall said, "there is no change in force protection level. It's business as usual in terms of security."

Cupernall said Fort Drum does not have a direct relationship with Fort Hood for training as it does with Fort Polk. However she points out the Army is a small world and it's likely that soldiers with the 10th Mountain Division know soldiers at Fort Hood. Both posts house infantry divisions. Cupernall said," we join the nation in being concerned and wanting to know more. This sort of killing is inexplicable."

Cupernall would not comment on whether instructions came to Fort Drum advising changes in security conditions.
