VERONA -- A New York State Trooper was injured last night when his patrol vehicle was struck by a car in Verona.
State Police say Trooper John Vanlandingham was responding to assist officers with a suicide threat call when the accident happened. Investigators say the accident happened about 10:15 Tuesday night at the intersection of State Routes 31 and 365.
Trooper Vanlandingham was attempting to turn left onto Route 365 when his cruiser was struck by a Chevrolet Impala. The trooper was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica and was treated for a separated shoulder. The driver of the other car, 59-year-old John K. Paul of Rome complained of chest pain and was treated at the scene.
Police say their investigation is continuing.
