SYRACUSE -- An Onondaga County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a woman who is accused of driving drunk and killing her passenger in a one-car crash.
24-year-old Stephanie Campbell of Nedrow faces charges of first degree vehicular manslaughter, second degree vehicular manslaughter, and aggravated driving while intoxicated. Campbell has admitted that she was travelling too fast in July 2009 when she struck a bridge abutment on Interstate 81 near I-481, killing 28-year-old Lindsay Thomas, also of Nedrow. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Police at the time said that Campbell’s blood alcohol level was .23%, nearly three times the legal limit. She suffered a fractured femur and right arm in the crash.
