SYRACUSE -- The American Red Cross is looking for blood donors this holiday season.
Jeannie Crouthamel of the Red Cross says supplies of blood traditionally dip this time of year, but the H1N1 "swine flu" outbreak has reduced the number of people who are physically able to make a donation to the Red Cross. "We are seeing a shortage. Everyday I go out on a blood drive we are lucky enough to meet our goal," says Crouthamel.
The Red Cross needs 2,000 pints of blood every three days in the Central New York region. Blood donors like Don Ciciarelli say there is no better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than to give the gift of life. "Without a doubt I have a lot to be thankful for. This is a small way to give a little bit of that back," he says.
