ALBANY (AP) -- New York governor candidates Andrew Cuomo and Rick Lazio say they have both smoked marijuana in their youth.

The question is, does anyone care?

Maurice Carroll of the Quinnipiac University poll answers with a loud "no."

Carroll says pot-smoking admissions, confirmed by Cuomo, a Democrat; and Lazio, a Republican; on Tuesday, haven't meant much to voters for 20 years. He says there hasn't been a fuss over youthful toking since Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama owned up to it with little consequence.

Smoking pot is only a violation in New York.

Cuomo and Lazio say they haven't done any other illegal drugs.

Republican Carl Paladino who is trying to petition to force a GOP primary says he never used any illegal drugs.
