COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (AP) -- The Army says an Apache helicopter from Fort Drum, N.Y., made a hard landing in the Colorado mountains, injuring both pilots.

Officials say the injuries were not life-threatening. The pilots were taken to a Colorado Springs hospital.

No other details have been released, including the pilots' names and the damage to the helicopter.

The helicopter was south of Pikes Peak at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at the time of the hard landing. The cause is under investigation.

The crew was practicing high-altitude flying before deploying to Afghanistan this fall.

The helicopter is from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.

In August, a Black Hawk helicopter from Fort Campbell, Ky., crashed while training in Colorado, killing all four crew members.
