UTICA (AP) -- Republicans have captured a Utica-area House seat held by Democrats since 2006.

GOP businessman Richard Hanna defeated two-term Democratic Rep. Michael Arcuri. It was a rematch for the two men; Hanna came close to capturing the seat two years ago.

Arcuri voted against President Barack Obama's controversial health care reform law, which cost him funding and support from many Democratic interest groups.

Hanna, a millionaire construction company owner, has stressed his political independence.
