SYRACUSE -- A staple on the SU Hill could be moving to make way for a chain restaurant.

The owner of King David's Restaurant says he was contacted eight months ago by Chipotle Mexican Grill. Even though King David's has been on Marshall Street since 1974 business has been slower in recent times.

"Right now with the economy the way it is, the recession, business all over is a bit slow," says Charles Hatem, co-owner of King David's. "We have a good deal on the table. Chipotle is a great company to bring into Marshall Street."

The Hatem family has a King David's in Fayetteville and Hatem says they could open another location in the SU area.

It's not a done deal just yet. There's a proposal is on the Syracuse common council's agenda for Monday for a special permit to make inside and outside modifications to the restaurant.

A Chipolte's recently opened on Erie Boulevard in DeWitt.
