If you want to hibernate away the winter weather, consider exercise as an alternative, and for more than losing weight.  Dr. Rich O'Neill, psychologist at SUNY Upstate, has reviewed 40 studies done over the past five years, that show 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise (brisk walking) or 60 minutes of intense workouts (jogging or easy swimming) significantly reduce the risk of two dozen medical problems, including some cancers, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, stroke, depression, dementia and more.
AND, those who worked out 5 or more times a week had 43% fewer colds over three months, and cold symptoms were not as bad.
