SYRACUSE -- Vera House is kicking off its 2011 White Ribbon campaign.

This year, Dr. David Smith, president of SUNY Upstate Medical University, will serve as the honorary chair. The campaign is in it's 17th year. Vera House says it is led by concerned men who invite and encourage the community to wear a ribbon during the ten day campaign to raise money and awareness toward stopping domestic and sexual violence.

"What we want to do during the White Ribbon campaign is encourage our men to stand up and take a stand to say we won't condone, commit or stand silent against sexual assault and domestic violence," said Chauncey Brown, the men's outreach program coordinator.

This year's White Ribbon campaign will be held March 25th to April 3rd.
