UTICA -- A Utica man is accused of choking a woman so hard she couldn't breathe.

It allegedly happened around 6:40 p.m. at 124 Wall Street. Wednesday. Utica police say Almonzo Davis, 30, grabbed his ex-girlfriend's neck with both of his hands, choking her so she couldn't breathe. The victim told police she fell to the floor when Davis stopped choking her and was gasping for air.

Davis is charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a misdemeanor.
