The towns of Geddes and Salina are working on an agreement to share services. The move comes as communities across Central New York look at ways to cut costs.
Under the agreement, the Geddes town comptroller would also work for the town of Salina two days a week. The town of Salina would pay Geddes for the service. Salina has been without a comptroller for the past few months.
"I think it's a great thing for people in Salina and Geddes because we are both looking toward lowering the cost of government and this is is one way to do that and provide an efficient service to our residents," says Salina Town Supervisor Mark Nicotra.
The measure still has to be approved by both town boards.
"It proves that two governments on opposite sides of the lake can work together to serve each of their constituents for the better in the effort to save money," says Geddes Town Supervisor Manny Falcone.
The proposal will go before the Salina town board Monday night. It will go before the Geddes town board March 8th.
