LIVERPOOL -- Voting is underway today in the Liverpool Central School District on a capital spending plan for several school buildings.  This vote is a complete and separate issue from the annual budget vote which will be held next month to set the district's operating budget.

Voters are being asked to approve $32.8 million for work at Willow Field Elementary, Morgan Road Complex, Elmcrest Elementary, Chestnut Hill Elementary, Chestnut Hill Middle, Soule Road Complex, Liverpool High School and the Educational Communication Center – and the scope of the work is limited to the basic infrastructure of the buildings – windows and doors, heating and ventilation, paving, roofing and security. No remodeling work is proposed as part of this capital project.  The district says the project will not raise property taxes. It's being paid for by state building aid and the district's capital reserve fund.

Polls are open till 9pm tonight. Voting is being held in the high school gym.
