NORWICH, CHENANGO CO. -- A seasonal bridge open only during the summer partially collapsed due to last week's severe thunderstorms.

Norwich Emergency Management Director Wesley Jones told CNY Central by phone the Red Mill Bridge collapsed on one side last week. The bridge, which connects Pleasant Street to Red Mill Hill Road, hadn't opened yet for the season. It separated about 3 feed from the road, and a corner came down later that night.

The bridge is scheduled to be taken down on Friday. Chenango County owns the bridge, but there's no word yet if they'll replace it.
